Great device, really keeps the dirt and grit down and away from your mitt/sponge and thus helps prevent unintentional scratching.

I have done a side-by-side comparison between the Grit Guard and Dirt Guard and have found the Dirt Guard far more effective. While both products will trap small grit that does not stay suspended in your wash water, only the Dirt Guard will trap the very fine silts. This is without doubt because of the filter media under the plastic guard. Additionally when it comes time to dump the dirty water, the Dirt Guard will stay in the bucket due to it''s tight fitting design. It is also very easy to rinse. I highly recommend the Dirt Guard for use in your 3 or 5 gallon buckets!
